For over twenty years MERF has granted financial and resource assistance to Kentuckiana music industry professionals in times of need and emergency crisis. The heart and soul of a caring music community, MERF receives applications for aid and then allocates assistance based upon a juried process by the board of directors and advisory board. By participating in our events and benefits, you join us in extending a humanitarian hand to those that create the cultural soundtrack of our lives.
If you are a musician in need, please fill out the form on the "Need Help" page and a MERF representative will contact you. "A Helping Hand to the Music Community." Tim Krekel passed away on June 24, 2009, following a brief battle with cancer. Tim was a longtime supporter of MERF as well as the Louisville music scene as a whole. He will be greatly missed. His website is at www.timkrekel.com. Tim Krekel's friend and family attorney, David Benson. David wants everyone to know that the best way to support Tim is through "The Krek Fund" which is set up at PNC Bank. For now, if you want to make a donation, send a check to Ear X-tacy c/o John Timmons. There are no other approved charities or organizations. According to David, The Krek Fund is set up to help Tim's children and family. Everything they choose to support will channel from this fund. There are several events that are in the planning stages and will be announced soon. There is no information on Tim's memorial service at this point. David stressed the importance of keeping the right information circulating. Thanks for helping. Some David Modica photos of Tim are here. | |
